So I accepted the colorways theme today and it completely torpedoed my installation. All my addons are totally messed up and no longer working properly. I use "Group Speed dial" and it doesn't work anymore as in all my dials have vanished. I was using containers and that got reset. All my containers are there after initializing containers again but the site lists are all empty now! My dashlane addon reverted to first time use.

It's maybe too late, but how do I revert back to what firefox was before colorways destroyed it. Even after reverting the theme to System Theme, nothing is the same. Please HELP.

That shouldn't happen after you install a (Colorways) theme, so maybe something else went wrong.

You can try "Clear the startup cache..." via the "Help -> More Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page.

Start Firefox in Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration or userChrome.css is causing the problem.

  • switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Themes
  • do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Troubleshoot Mode start window

I agree that shouldn't have happened as soon as I said yes to colorways, but it did.

So, I had tried everything everything that I could find on line and the things you mentioned. Nothing worked. I ended up trying a refresh once I figured I had tried everything else. Still didn't fix it.

After all those steps I now had a copy of my profile so I figured what the heck, re install it. So I have reinstalled Firefox and after copying over bookmarks, settings, extension folder and some .json & .sqlite files, I have my Firefox back. The only thing that I didn't end up having was my container information and I use a lot of (multi-account) containers. I had my entire list of container names but the site lists were all empty and had to manually re assign/add the sites. I also lost all my dials in Group Speed Dial. Now I realize that I may have copied back the cause of my issue but I just wanted to get back up and running.

I will say, since reinstalling Firefox, the performance has been noticeably so much better.

For future reference, how do I save/retrieve all container related information? If I can do that, Mayyyybee I will try colorways again.

I am now backing up my profile and Group Speed Dials!
