For some time now, Thunderbird unified folders always display that there are 25 unread emails, but none of them are unread in the listed emails. If I go to the individual accounts, I also can't find any unread emails.

Any idea what could be done to narrow down the issue and find these emails?

I have sometimes found that these steps do it: - untick unified folders - exit TB - in profile Mail folder, delete 'smart mailboxes' (or rename to be safe) - restart TB - tic unified folders.

Brilliant, that worked. Doing that revealed a thread of 25 emails from 01/01/1970, which I could then delete. Thanks a lot for the help!
