Sorry to hear about this problem.

(1) You mentioned an icon on your Windows Taskbar. If that is pinned, try unpinning it: right-click > Unpin from Taskbar

Does that help with the desktop shortcut at all?

(2) If you use the Windows 10 search box (on the Taskbar or start menu) and paste in

c:\program files\mozilla firefox\firefox.exe

and press Enter, can Windows run the program?

Did you install Firefox from Mozilla's site or the Microsoft Windows store?

That path was for the classic Firefox, so if it's not there, you might need to reinstall. You can download a full installer from: https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/#product-desktop-release

If you installed from the Microsoft Windows store, you might need to uninstall/reinstall, but I haven't used that version myself, so I'm not sure about the details.

I downloaded from the Mozilla Firefox web site and also tried the site you recommended. It download into my Program Files and it created a file Mozilla Firefox

I deleted Firefox using the Microsoft uninstaller tool and it removed the program prior to me reloading it.

Still getting the same error messages.

My Mozilla Thunderbird is located in Program Files (x86) Don't know why they are in different Program Files folders.

Firefox just quit working a couple of days ago.

The Program Files (x86) path is meant for 32-bit programs, while the Program Files path is meant for 64-bit programs. It isn't critically important where the program is installed, but of course the shortcut does need to point to it...

So in the new

C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox

folder, can you find a firefox.exe file?

If not, could you run some malware scanners in case a background process is blocking Firefox from installing. This article has links to cleaning tools other Firefox users have found helpful: Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware.

C:Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe X Windows cannot find ‘C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe’. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again.

I deleted the program and the Mozilla Firefox folder in the Program Files.

I reloaded the program and when I try to Firefox from the taskbar I get the following error message:

Windows cannot find ‘C:\Users\hgmv8\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch\User Pinned\Taskbar\Firefox.Ink’ Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again.

When I try to open from teh desktop i get this error message:

It doesn't really make sense that Windows lets you double-click a file and then claims that file does not exist. Something seems to be interfering with running Firefox. I suggest the malware scans.

I will do a malware scan. I run Bitdefender and it's protected me pretty good so far. I appreciate all of your help. I'll let you know how it goes.

Did you verify the this folder and the firefox.exe file exists ?

Boot the computer in Windows Safe Mode with network support to see if that has effect.
