Library patrons want to utilize Firefox in addition to Internet Explorer. We can configure IE to prevent users from accessing computer hard drives, i.e. typing c: in the URL; however, we cannot find how to do this using Firefox.

This happened

Every time Firefox opened

== Our library switched to IE, but patrons wanted to also continue to use Firefox

If the machines' security is properly configured, access to the file:// protocol shouldn't be a security issue.

If you really need to do this, you can use the BlockSite extension to block all URL's that begin with file:// . You can get this from https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/3145/ and protect the restrictions with a password.
