JavaScript does not work although Java has been properly installed and enabled javascript in the options menu. Surprisignly the javascript works fine in Internet Explorer.
I have installed FireFox 3.6.9 and after while JavaScript has started to malfunctioning, although I have the latest Java installed (Java 6 Update 21) and JavaScript turned on in my Options menu. I have tried already several times to reinstall Java and Firefox as well, but nothing helps, the Firefox browser still ignores the installed java. I am running Windows Vista. I have had once the same problem long time ago, but don't remember, how did I solve it. Otherwise, I have been really satisfied with Firefox and would like to keep using it, however, without Javascript running it is useless.

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).

Thanks for advice. I found that solution by myself the very same day, although again by accident... Anyways, I really appreciate your effort guys!
Has anyone figured out which add-on is causing this problem?
Did you look at the troubleshooting article?

If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the Safe mode start window to disable all extensions.
You have to close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")
I have done everything thats suggested here, but I still can't log into securepages where Java is used. It worked until som weeks ago, but suddenly it stopped working, and I can't remember if Firefox installed anything that may have caused it. If anyone has a resloution on this, I will be grateful. :)
I had the same problem and using the information given by janofano I found that it was the extension NoScript 2.0.3.5 that was causing the problem. I disbaled the extension and Java then worked in all my web-sites. Hope this is useful to everybody because problem has been pesent for months and I am very glad to get rid of it.
