Is there a way to force Firefox 4 to offer to remember and to remember user ids and passwords for sites that use the autocomplete mechanism to block such offers and rememberings?

In Firefox 3.6.16 (and presumably other earlier versions) one could force FF to offer to remember user ids and passwords for many sites by editing the file ...\Mozilla Firefox\components \nsLoginManager.js to ignore site- requested autocomplete disabling (_isAutocompleteDisabled returns false).
FireFox 4 does not use that file or any similar that I was able to find.
Can the result (FF ignores site attemps to turn off autocomplete) be achieved in some other way or by editing some other file?

This bookmarklet makes the browser ignore autocomplete="off" temporarily, allowing you to save passwords even on sites that use autocomplete="off".

I'd like to make this change too. I'm not sure what is meant by "recompiling" in this context. Please could you explain the steps taken to do this? Many thanks.
@Alon: I don't see any value in the add-in if all it does is "provide one-click access to the Saved Passwords window via a toolbar button". I already have 3 key-press access to a sorted, searchable, editable file that contains all my log-in information. As far as I can see, the only thing the Saved Passwords window is good for is trouble-shooting password failures and cleaning out accumulated garbage, maybe once in six months.
Please send a copy of the edited file to cmdrlanc@gmail.com. Many Thanks.
It doesn't seem to work anymore.
See the last post on the previous page:
_____________________________________ Alon: You found fixing “nsLoginManager.js” no longer works. That is useful. The: “small add-in that solved my issue - https://addons.mozilla.org/af/firefox/addon/saved-passwords-button/” has too many steps.
Anyway, What did Mozilla people do to prevent “nsLoginManager.js” fix from working? - That is the question and what is the NEW work-a-round if there is one?
REMINDER TO ALL: AUTO-fill-in password in your site’s password field to simply click “Enter” in Firefox 3.6.17 works. I have gone back to 3.6.17 until someone finds the a NEW work-a-round, if there is one … ! Version 3.6.17 runs slower than 4.0.1, but I’ll live with that for now.
Alon, could you please send the omni.jar file to me, also. To "ndm_sf(at)sbglobal(dot)net"
Thanks, Norm
is it possible to have copy as well? Can you post it somewhere and provide a link here? Thanks.
Hi Alon, would you be so kind as to send me a copy (omni.jar) too? Thank you very much.
