when closed and i try to open a hiper link i get statment firefox is aready open but not responding and i have to reset system to get it back. Is this a glitch of just my system?

I have a spread sheet with all my hyper links and i select websites that way and firefox has done this to me starting with 3.6 beta and now 5

 There is only one window open the spread sheet. 
   Firefox selected as default browser. Running Windows XP, Spread sheet Microsoft Excell.
