I am having this problem as well. I have cleaned my cookies, cache, and all of that but it still crashes. I scanned for virus protection which I do at least twice a day and also deleted firefox and reinstalled up. Every single thing is up to date including adobe and java but it stills crash on every site I could possibly go. Please help this is driving me crazy because I have to go to IE for my browser. I have Windows 7 and deactivated all addons but still having the same problem.
I hope all of you find a solution but for my part, I finally had to give up on FireFox 6.xx on my Win7 64x computer for the time being. BUT, I was pleasantly surprised to learn that FireFox 5.0 (available here: FireFox 5.0 ) would install right over top of an existing copy of FireFox 6.xx and everything was fine again. Didn't need to uninstall FF 6 first or anything. Just run the FireFox 5.0 install exe.
When you run the install exe for FF5, you'll see a message about "do you want to update"? Of course you are not updating in the strictest sense, but just click OK and let 5.0 install. Then start FireFox again and like magic you are back to a perfectly working copy of 5.0. Worked for me on Win7 64x, my wife's Laptop with Vista and a buddies older machine with Win XP. It was like having an old friend come back to life for us.
This will keep you in the FireFox family until they can get the problems with current builds of FireFox worked out.
FYI, I tried FireFox 7 beta and it was no better with these problems that is 6.xx. Plus RoboForm was not working on FF 7 beta and I found I could not drag the components of the tool bar(s) around to arrange them like I like them. BAD NEW IS that FireFox 5 would NOT install over FF 7 Beta and so to get back to a working copy of FF5 again, I had to restore from a backup copy of my HD. But now I know.

I uninstalled FF6 Beta when my PC repeatedly just hard crashed (hard reset button only works! No blue screen, no nice messages). Re-installed FF3.6 and no problems. Re-installed FF6 two days ago and same story - hard crashes out of nowhere. I think it's an nVidia display incompatibility because screen has strange characters superimposed when system crashes. Display drivers etc. are all current. Needless to say have re-installed FF3.6
No version of Firefox actually crashes the computer or causes BSOD on Windows.
Only runlevel software or drivers or such could even do that.
Two main cause of the Firefox 6.0 crashes have been due to a Trojan malware and due Comcast's Constant Guard due to the use of IDvault.
