Have been using firefox for over a year on my mac and it just wouldn't open today after being opened earlier and was just put on sleep. Now it opens but no start up page. I think my url is not correct. I have uploaded all new firefox (6.0.2 latest) as far as I know. I have snow leopard (mac os x version 10.6.8 ).

Since Firefox 4, the default home page is about:home . Does that one look familiar?

If not, perhaps you were using an iGoogle page. Hopefully you can find it starting from http://www.google.com/ and then check out the methods described in this article: How to set the home page | How to | Firefox Help.

Any luck?

You can check the startup setting.

  • Firefox > Preferences > General > Startup: "When Firefox Starts": "Show my home page"

I have that information set up correctly. What I want to know is what is supposed to be in the home page. Right now this is what is there: yhgu nmnmbcv I'm thinking this may not be correct. I don't know how this got there. I had it working for months before.

That is definitely not correct.
You can leave that field empty to make Firefox use the default new build-in about:home page that doesn't require internet access.

Thanks for your help. Went to Mac store and got some info on how to put home page on my computer as default. Just go to page you want on firefox, then drag it to the home icon and voila, its set. Can also make several sites open simultaneously in tabs if you wish. You helped me to understand where the problem was. Appreciate your help.
