Firefox version 4 was crashing every time I attempted to load the Get Add Ons page.

Solution attempts: Following all advice in the Firefox crashes article, I just updated to the latest version (7.0.1) and have followed troubleshooting steps. This crash happens just the same in Safe Mode. I disabled my Firewall and verified no change.

RESOLVED

Further troubleshooting: I realized that the troubleshooting info I had pasted into my original post above (not shown in this forum) listed that my video driver needed an update. I installed this and verified no effect on the crashing. I also noted that the troubleshooting info listed my version still was 4.0. So I crashed until a new report was generated that showed version 7.0. I could get generate a crash report if I went to the Get Add Ons page then hit Reload Page during the page lockup.

Finally, I realized that the restarts of Firefox did not keep me in Safe Mode. I generated a crash report in Safe Mode. Then I did the insane, I opened not in Safe Mode and went to the Get Add Ons page... and it loaded.

Problem Resolved

My theory as to the solution: Possibly my browser was continuing to fetch a page that was stored locally and corrupt. My requests to reload page eventually reached out to download a current version of the page.
