For those who are going to update your FF to 9.01, be warned that your favicons will disappear again (even if they were there in 9.0). As in 9.0, once you click on any sites again, the favicons will come back.

And also you might lose some of the add-ons, for whatever reason, I don't know. So I would suggest you make a backup (or a list) of your extensions. Once you finish update to 9.0.1, check them to make sure they are all there. I have lost 7 of them and luckily, I have a backup of my extension list so I know which ones are missing, and I have to install all of them back.

I really hope Mozilla will fix this problem in the future releases, it's a pain to have to reinstall add-ons which were in the old version and are compatible with the new version.

Also your history will be cleared as well. Yes, My option is to remember history and my history of the last 7 days were in 9.0 and once I updated to 9.0.1, they were all gone! So now whenever I enter any url addresses of sites that I have visited, the address bar will not recognize it and I have to type the whole url again.

I am not noticing any loss of favicons except those without favicons that were not restored to the white dog-eared sheet icon last time like those in the Library list, for they were fixed in other lists with

You are always going to lose extensions due to releases as that is the way Firefox has been set up, making it up the extension owners to maintain their extensions while Firefox changes the playing field. If the max version limitations are in fact bogus you can override them.

You can force 9.0 "compatibility" with the "Compatibility Reporter" extension, or by creating extensions.checkCompatibility.9.0 using about:config and setting it to false. Use at your own risk, but most extensions that worked in Firefox 4 will still work in 9.0 except for several very large unmanageable extensions.

One of the nice things about having extensions is that you can disable them and still use Firefox, disabled extensions will still get update notices. Or maybe use another extension until the one you want is fixed or works for you.

For loss of history make sure you are not clearing your history.

1. Maybe not yours, but on my 9.0.1, all of my favicons (in bookmark toolbar, bookmarks, and tabs) are all gone. As soon as I clicked on them, they all came back (except the bookmark ones, which I don't have time to do so since I have a lot).

2. When I said I LOST the extensions, I don't mean because of the compatibility. As I mentioned in my post, they ARE ALL COMPATIBLE WITH FUTURE VERSIONS TILL 10 because I have changed the "Max Versions" in install.rdf of these add-ons. I lost them because of the update.

3. I am not going to do the "Compatibility Reporter" because I don't want to make my FF experience worse. As I said, I know how to change the Max Version numbers in the install.rdf.

4. I have been using FF since the very first version, so I would say I am a pretty experienced FF user. I know how do the extensions work and about the compatibility issues. I only choose those extensions that are compatible with my FF versions, or those that I can change their install.rdf to make them work. Otherwise, I won't use them.

5. As I mentioned in my post, my option is to REMEMBER HISTORY and I have been using the same option for a very long time, haven't changed a bit. So it's not my setting that caused the loss of my history, it's the UPDATE.

I would not post this issue unless I have tried all the troubleshooting, which, there's none for this issue. FF 9.0.1 is only a minor update (I have made the update notice). Obviously there's a bug somewhere that caused the problem.
