Try starting firefoxin safe mode

  • do not make changes in the first window just click on continue
  • if you see the embarrassing message use the restart option not the restore option

Part of the problem may be a multitude of sessionrestore files. These may be deleted, or if you may wish to try them later because they have important tabs stored rename them e.g. append .old to each files name. The files are in your profile. You are looking for files called sessionstore.js & sessionstore.bak and any numbered versions of those.
