Firefox uses Tabs, which are basically multiple windows inside one main window. You can read Tabbed browsing, which somewhat explains about what tabs are, and how they work. When you close Firefox, if you have multiple tabs open, then it warns you to make sure that you do actually want to close the other Tabs, and you didn't do it on accident.
