I recently made FF my primary browser. iGoogle is my homepage. Using an older PC with Windows XP, Service Pack 3. I have a gadget on my homepage for GMail, but it won't open up for me, nor can I manually go to Gmail. The message I get in the Gadget box is:

The page isn't redirecting properly

Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete.

This problem can sometimes be caused by disabling or refusing to accept
   cookies.

I am new to FF, and don't understand what I need to do to fix this error.

Enable the cookies.

Please reload the webpage while bypassing the cache using one of the following steps:

  • Hold down the Shift key and click the Reload button with the left mouse key.

OR

  • Press Ctrl + F5 or Ctrl + Shift + R (Windows and Linux)
  • Press Command + Shift + R (Mac)

See if this helps solve the issues you had and please report back to us!

I tried both suggestions, but Gmail still does not in Mozilla. Could it be my OS is too old to be supported anymore?

Try the Firefox Safe Mode to see how it works there. The Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.

(If you're not using it, switch to the Default theme.)

  • You can open the Firefox 4.0+ Safe Mode by holding the Shift key when you use the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
  • Or use the Help menu item and click on the Restart with Add-ons Disabled... menu item while Firefox is running.

Don't select anything right now, just use "'Start in Safe Mode" To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before using the Firefox shortcut (without the Shift key) to open it again. If it is good in the Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one.

Please follow the Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems article for that.

When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help other users who have the same problem.

The last suggestion to "Remove Cookies" solved the problem. Many thanks for your help. I am very amazed at the FireFox community and it's ability to reach out and help.

Thank you
