My Spybot Search & destroy said that it found a virus in plugin-container.exe. I agreed to delete it with hope that I'll be able to reestablish everything from Spybot Search & destroy but when I decided to reestablish it I found that there's none copies in Spybot Search & destroy. Please, help!

hello, plugin-container.exe is a part of firefox & necessary to play content of most of the plugins - so itself shouldn't be malicious. please download a fresh copy of firefox from getfirefox.com & install it on top of your current setup, this should add the missing file back again & keep your personal data, customizations, etc...

Your Spybot Search & Destroy didn't create a restore or backup file before making the changes? You can download a new copy as "madperson" suggested or try to locate the backup file using the information below. Your choice.

When you do a "Fix selected problems" after a "Check for problems" by default Spybot creates backups of the fixed problems to facilitate recovery. These backups (recovery files) for Spybot-S&D By default are stored in one of the following directories:

Windows NT, 2000 or XP:

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Spybot - Search & Destroy\Recovery

The recovery files themselves are stored in password protected zipped folders within the Recovery directory.

Could Spybot Search & destroy not to creat a backup? I didn't do "Check for problems". Spybot Search & destroy itself said that he found. There're two folders in Spybot Search & destroy. The folder "recovery" has one file 0kbytes its name is "overview". The folder "backups" has two files "regLokal" 17 mb and "regUsers" 8 mb. Which one I need?

I would assume it would be the reglocal backup file, I would also check the reguser file as well for the removed or deleted file you accidentally removed. The recovery file has one folder with no data value so I assume it's empty.

I open those files and there were so many letters and I didn't understand anything. What I have to do with these files?
