I can no longer add new bookmarks. The box wont show up on all websites but does show up on yahoo homepage. I have tried deactivating some hardware option as suggested on mozilla troubleshoot guide located under options > advanced tab no luck... issue still happens in safe mode & i tried resetting my firefox settings with no luck.

I forgot about that option (when you use the full menu bar, that menu icon is hidden.) So normally the white star icon in the address bar turns yellow and a box drops opens that lets you edit the bookmark (or Cancel).

I'm surprised it works on one web page but not others. Since you've already reset Firefox, two things come to mind:

(1) Install Firefox over itself to replace any damaged program files. You can download the installer from: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/fx/#desktop

(2) Work through the fixes in this article: Can't add, change or save bookmarks - How to fix.

What method are you using the add the bookmark? Some common methods are:

  • double-click the star icon in the address bar
  • press Ctrl+d
  • right-click in the page > Bookmark This Page
  • Bookmarks menu > Bookmark This Page

Do any of those call up the dialog?

By the way, Firefox's Reset feature adds an Old Firefox Settings folder to your desktop. Please do not delete that right away, in case you need to rescue any old content from it in the coming week or two.

Problems with bookmarks and history not working properly can be caused by a corrupted places.sqlite database file.

You can check for problems with the places.sqlite database file in the Firefox Profile Folder.

Thanks sooo much for the help. Re installing a new version of Firefox seemed to fix the issue for now at least. Thank You
