I do have "Remember History" checked in Options -> Privacy -> Firefox Will:

This seems to happen usually within 24 hours. Sometimes it happens after the browser has been closed and reopened, and sometimes it happens spontaneously without the browser having been closed.

Now I was recently plagued with the searchnu browser hijacker which I have subsequently eliminated but I am wondering if it may have changed some Firefox preferences which are not obvious that need to be changed back to their default settings.

hello k2mf, you seem to have iobit Advanced SystemCare installed on the pc - please make sure that it isn't set up to clear the history of firefox.

Hello, Philipp..

Thank you for your reply.

I thought something like this might be happening with that Add On but I can find anywhere in that Add ON where options or preferences may be changed. If you know how that can be done, I would very much appreciate finding out.

Perhaps I will simply Disable the Add On and see if that fixes the problem.

Thank you again!

Barry

hey barry, i'm not familiar with the program myself - but judging from its description on the internet it also includes the option to regularly "clean-up" the history in firefox (though you wouldn't need any external programs to do it - this can be done as well within the histroy menu in firefox): www.iobit.com/help/asc/doc/care.html (scroll down to 'Privacy Sweep')

if you don't need this program you could remove it from the windows control panel, or if you want to continue using it you could ask for help on the iobit forums where you'll likely get more detailed answers: http://forums.iobit.com/forumdisplay.php?f=4

Hi, Philipp...

Thank you again. The "Privacy Sweep" is for when you're running the full program and I don't use it. In fact, I haven't used the full program in several days.

I think I will simply disable the browser Add On and see if that fixes the problem.

Thank you, again!

Barry

Hi, Philipp...

After an overnight of the Advanced System Care 6 Add On being disabled, this morning the history had been forgotten again.

Hopefully, the solution to this will become evident as time progresses. Thank you for the help!
