I am trying to find the shortcut of firefox in all locations of the computer
The website awesomehp comes always up as starting page. The uninstall instructions of AWESOMEHP say:
1)Find the shortcut of the browser (e.g firefox) in all locations of the computer including but not limited to the desktop 2) Find properties 3) Delete awesomehp in "Target" of the tab "Shortcut"
I am not able to locate the shortcut - does anybody know where to look?

Cant get you :(
1. Control Panel -> Add or Remove Try to find AWESOMEHP if you found it uninstall it
2. If 1st doesn't work proceed further. search for AWESOMEHP within c:/ dirve using search window. Delete the AWESOMEHP obtained from result
3. If 1st doesn't work proceed further. c:/User/Appdata/Mozilla . Search AWESOMEHP over here and remove it.
Prince3333 thanks for your answer.
I found an AWESOMEHP Add-on in the c:\User\Appdata\Mozilla files which was not listed in the list of installed add_ons. Deleting it did unfortunately not help.
On my Windows 7 laptop I do not have a directory c.\dirve - therefore could not search it.
Replacing the link to awesomehp.com for the starting page in the control panel did not help either, Firefox always starts with AWESOMEHP.COM
Has anybody an idea how to get rid of AWESOMEHP.COM so Firefox starts with the the link stored in the control panel.?
try to run a full scan of your system with different security tools like the free version of malwarebytes & adwcleaner.
If you want firefox to start with default link every time you start firefox, you can do so from fireox -> option -> Home Page
What is meant is the Firefox shortcut on the desktop that you use the launch the Firefox program.
You can check the target line in the Firefox desktop shortcut (right-click: Properties) to make sure that nothing is appended after the path to the Firefox program.
You can open the about:config page via the location bar and search for prefs that refer to "awesomehp" and reset user set (bold) prefs via the right-click context menu to the default value.
You can open the about:config page via the location bar

what finally helped was to uninstall Firefox (using the IoBit Uninstaller) and to reload it. Now it starts again with the starting page configured in the preferences.
Thanks for your assistance
cor-el 's answer above is the right solution for this problem. I had the same problem and it drive me crazy because i was extensively using the new tab page with most visited sites pinned on it.
just open the about:config and accept the responsibility to continue. then search for awesomehp. you will find two prefs, maybe more. right click on those items to change them.
I found two prefs, browser.newtab.url and browser.search.selectedEngine
for browser.newtab.url I changed it to about:newtab if you want another option just enter it.
for browser.search.selectedEngine i entered the text Google . I don't know if search will work, but i changed it anyway because this awesomehp thing was very annoying.
then I searched the computer and found two more awesomehp folders on those locations below and deleted them.
C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming (there was a folder, i deleted it.)
C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\browser\searchplugins (there was a xml file, and i deleted it too.)
