If you’re using a shared device and don’t want Firefox to remember your passwords, you change your preferences in the settings.

We recommend that each person who shares a device should create a Mozilla account and sign out every time, to prevent their logins from being exposed. You can also use a Primary Password for additional protection.

Disable all password saving

  1. In the Menu bar at the top of the screen, click Firefox and then select Preferences or Settings, depending on your macOS version.Click the menu button Fx89menuButton and select Settings.
  2. Click Privacy & Security in the panel to the left.
  3. Scroll down to the Logins and Passwords section.
  4. Uncheck the box next to Ask to save logins and passwords for websites.

Disable password saving for specific websites only

You can also configure Firefox not to save passwords for specific websites. To add these exceptions:

  1. In the Menu bar at the top of the screen, click Firefox and then select Preferences or Settings, depending on your macOS version.Click the menu button Fx89menuButton and select Settings.
  2. Click Privacy & Security in the panel to the left.
  3. Scroll down to the Logins and Passwords section.
  4. Check the box next to Ask to save logins and passwords for websites.
  5. Click Exceptions… next to Ask to save logins and passwords for websites to open the exceptions panel.

  6. Type the address of each website you don't want Firefox to save passwords, then click Block.
    Both http and https URLs for the website will be added to the exception list.
  7. You can use Remove Website to remove the selected URL from the list, or Remove All Websites to remove all exceptions.
  8. Click Save changes.
