there have been a load of comments regarding Yahoo, so it is likely Yahoo are having an issue. You cannot blame Thunderbird if yahoo have an issue. Your comments are a bit vague and need to be more precise; perhaps because you are feeling fed up with things.

So lets start again :) Please state what occurred. does this effect incoming or outgoing or both? What error message do you get when you click on 'Get Messages' and also when trying to send....word for word as this is important - you could post an image of this. Is your 'Username' the full email address or just the bit before the @ sign ? You can see what 'Username' is stored here:

  • 'Menu icon' > 'Options' > 'Options' > Security' > 'Passwords' tab
  • click on 'Saved Passwords' button.

Please post following Info: In Thunderbird

  • Help > Troubleshooting Information
  • click on 'Copy text to Clipboard' button
  • Right click in a 'Post a Reply' text box and select 'Paste'
  • You can edit all info on fonts and printers but nothing else.

Then we can see what similarities are between people using yahoo and try to find out whats going on.

Hi Toad Hall yes sorry a bit vague with my problem, last year tons of problems with yahoo connecting with thunderbird and then it suddently worked again.

What is happening is very similar all folders are now gone, when writing and email a notification comes up the current operation on inbox did not succeed the mail server for xxxx did not resppnd etc then hangs and does nothing will not save emails to drafts nothing, I have tried reinstalling thunderbird changing my passwords, removing the accounts and re adding them checked all the settings in yahoo no problem at all. I have just downloaded opera and all accounts work fine so unless this gets resolved after many years of use it will be bye bye for me as this is just too time consuming having to deal wtih these sorts of issues. any advice would be great thanks toad hall

Aghhhh it is yahoo again thanks for letting me know, I really must change my email provider once and for all they are awful, yes I can get some mail for yahoo sites in australia but not the yahoo ones in the UK so that would make sense thanks toad hall !!

GMX is good. https://www.gmx.com/

Yahoo is liable to get worse not better. Now they are owned by Verizon. Email has never been a core part of their business, and their migration of their ISP customers to AOL following the purchase of that iconic name was not good.

Short answer is unless you are a verizon customer, and perhaps even if you are. Find someone else to do your mail.
