Trying to set up 2FA, scan code, installed Authy, but code never works
I am following the steps to install this. Step 1. I installed a code scanner, and Authy authentication app.
When I scan the code, it tells me to type in the code from the authentication app.
The code is limited to six characters, but Authy returns seven in a format that looks like xx xxx xx.
No matter what combination I try of the numbers provided, it just doesn't work.
What am I missing here?
Chosen solution
I tried the steps again carefully. It turned out that the code scanner I was using was not supported by Authy. In the enter code manually option, it had a link to the ZXing project scanner. I downloaded and installed that one. Authy wanted to push me into allowing it to do a full backup, but I found you can skip that (although they don't make it at all clear and neither does Firefox). Well, finally, it worked.
They could have saved a lot of time simply saying install Authy, then install ZXing QR code scanner, click on three dots (hamburger menu) and skip the backups installation.

If you scan the QR code provided by Firefox then the app should know what code to generate and for Firefox this should be a six digit code. You can try again and turn 2FA off/on to generate a new code.
You can also check this with another app or possibly with an authenticator extension in Firefox.
