Thunderbird and my Outlook account stopped playing nicely
Hi, first off I really like using Thunderbird! Lately an annoying issue has been happening where I'm unable to refresh my inbox and the connection to my outlook account craps out (e-mails disappear and the inbox cannot be accessed). Restarting Thunderbird / my PC seems to help, but the same thing happens again not too long afterwards. Attached is the error message that pops up every time this happens.
Please let me know if anybody can come up with a solution. Thank you very much!

I use AVAST and was unable to send mail. I discovered that Thunderbird's SSL certificate for AVAST apparently does not work with the current version of AVAST (10.4.2233).
My answer (and question) explain what I did. I can now send mail and the AVAST mail shield works as well. [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/que.../1088646]

I posted this problem a few days ago, but it doesn't look like anyone was able to help yet. I'm still having the same issue periodically.
Lots of people are having issues with outlook.com accounts. Same error and everything.. We are assuming there is an issue with the providers system. But getting anything from them is almost impossible, so we will continue trying local tests and settings in the hope of finding a real cause.
What anti virus do you use? Do you use Microsoft Family Security?

Thank you for the explanation! Thunderbird has worked perfectly for years, so it was strange to suddenly have an issue with outlook now.
I use Avast Anti-Virus and I don't use Microsoft Family Security.
The only change I made recently was installing Windows 10, but Thunderbird still worked fine for the last 2 months.
If your using Avast, it might be this. https://wiki.mozilla.org/Thunderbird:Testing:Antivirus_Related_Performance_Issues#AVAST
Even if it is not it will not hurt to create the exception

Thanks! I created the exception and turned off Avast's Mail Shield as well. I'll see if there's any improvement over the next few days.

Thank you for the step-by-step direction list! It was easy to follow and I'll see if Thunderbird works properly now.
