I believe someone has hacked your executables on my system. I have evidence of some really odd commands within my program control from Zone Alarm. Unfortunately, my .png screenshot is not uploading.

Here are two examples of the odd executables:

FIREFOX.EXEe.exe FIREFOX.EXEAINER.EXE

I'd be happy to send additional information upon request.

Where did you get your Firefox from? Mozilla.org?

Let’s do a full clean re-install; Download Firefox For All languages And Systems {web link} Save the file. Then Close Firefox.

Using your file browser, open the Programs Folder on your computer.

Windows: C:\Program Files C:\Program Files (x86) Mac: Open the "Applications" folder.
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-download-and-install-firefox-mac Linux: Check your user manual.

Do Not remove the profiles folder.

Look for, and rename any Mozilla or Firefox program folders by adding .old to them. Do not rename the Mozilla Thunderbird folder.

After rebooting the computer, run a registry scanner. Then run the installer. If all goes well, remove the OLD folders when you are done.

If there is a problem, start your Computer in safe mode and try again.

Fred,

Thank you for the assistance. I reset the browser and it works fine but I suspect the executables on my system are the result of someone's interest in my internet activity. Hopefully, I'm wrong; we'll see.

Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.

You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:

Microsoft Security Essentials is a good permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista if you don't already have one. Windows 8/10 have antivirus protection built-in.

Further information can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware article.
