Thunderbird - sudenly lost all saved passwords
Hello, could i ask, where are stored passwords from TB?
I use Linux Mint 20.2 Mate. Today i started PC, TB and sudenly i had to enter passwords to my mails accounts. I looked to "stored passfords" and no password there is stored anymore. Everything is lost.
It happened to me first time in October. And now again. I would like to save the file with stored passwords. Is it possible to find out why passwords were lost?
thank you
PS: I use last ver.of TB

Do you use any 'clean up' software? If yes, then make Thunderbird files and folders exempt.
re : I would like to save the file with stored passwords.
cert9.db, key4.db, and pkcs11.txt files in the 'profile name' folder.
It would be just as easy to create a backup of the entire profile. In Thunderbird: Menu app icon > Preferences 'Application Basics' - Half way down locate 'Profile Folder' - click on 'Open Folder' - It might be 'Open Finder'
It opens showing contents of profile name folder
Exit Thunderbird now
Go up directory and copy the .thunderbird (or .mozilla-thunderbird) folder to external drive.
Linux and Unix Profile folders are located here:
~/.thunderbird/<Profile name>/
However, if you're using a third party build from Debian or Ubuntu, those builds store your profile folder here:
~/.mozilla-thunderbird/<Profile name>
~/ I believe is short form of /home/your_login_name/.thunderbird.
They may be hidden files: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Show_hidden_files_and_folders#Linux
