Hi,

I and some customers use thunderbird for email, while it works well it would be nice to see some features add and or issues fixed. We would be willing to donate towards such goals if such a system exists. Some of these issues: -With SSL enabled thunderbird is a lot slower when sending messages, while this is no big deal in itself the UI could be improved so it's more clear to the user this happens and the background and he or she doesn't have to wait. -It would be very nice to share the autocomplete contact list between computers, maybe in a special imap folder.

If sending with TB is slower with SSL connections, I suspect this is because you have an AV program scanning outgoing mail and SSL connections. Disabling AV scanning of email is a recommended configuration. If that doesn't help, sending in background might.

With MoreFunctionsForAddressBook it's possible to define specific address books that are scanned by address autocomplete. Combined with Addressbooks Synchronizer, this might be an effective way to share the contact list. It's also possible to sync a TB address book with an online address book, e.g. with TbSync or gContactSync.

FWIW, I've been using send in background for a few years.

Have you tested with Windows and Thunderbird started in safe mode?

The sending in background seems to work ok but I would have to use it some more to see if there are no issues.

The Addressbooks Synchronizer also seems to be working.

We don't have an av scanner, we're using linux, no idea what is causing the sending to be slower with ssl. Will try again with the latest version as we're doing some os upgrades.

It still would be nice to have some info on how we can donate and indicate what is important to us.

thx a lot for the tips Bram

Sure. The known issues are https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=511079 which is linked from the mozillazine page
