Where can i set my preferences in my browser

more options

Ive been setting-up my video preferences for about three hours continuously when one of the links stopped working, and while seeking a solution i read that the problem may be that I need to enable java script or clearing my cache or cookies or doing something of that nature. Which if i could find out how to enter into that area of my browser which contains these tools my familiarity with such operations as these just might give me the insight to discover a fix for my problem. I am up in age and therefore find that since i last used a computer that many new or improved features will keep puzzeling me until i have familiarized myself with them.

Most likely you do not need to enable JavaScript: it is enabled by default, and if it is turned off, about half of all website will tell you.

When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.

(1) Bypass Firefox's Cache

Use Ctrl+Shift+r to reload the page fresh from the server.

Alternately, you also can clear Firefox's cache completely using:

"3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced

On the Network mini-tab > Cached Web Content : "Clear Now"

If you have a large hard drive, this might take a few minutes.

(2) Remove the site's cookies (save any pending work first). While viewing a page on the site, try either:

  • right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
  • (menu bar) Tools > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
  • click the padlock or globe icon in the address bar > More Information > "View Cookies"

In the dialog that opens, you can remove the site's cookies individually.

Then try reloading the page. Does that help?

If you miss the classic menu bar (File, Edit, View, et cetera) you can turn that back on. Use any of these methods to show the toolbar list and select Menu Bar there:

  • right-click a blank spot on the tab bar (or the "+" button)
  • tap the Alt key to activate the classic menu bar > View > Toolbars
  • in Customize mode > Show/Hide Toolbars
