Compatible issues firefox v37.0.2 with att yahoo mail
6:43 PM 4/24/2015 Compatible issues firefox v37.0.2 with att yahoo mail
Hello: this is my first post, hope I am doing it properly. I am using W7pro OS and ATT DSL 3.0Mbps dl I noticed this week that I was unable to save attachments from my ATT Yahoo mail I could view them but no choice as to ware to save them--only choice (save to my comp.)But no ware to be found. I reinstalled v 36.0.4-preventing auto upgrade-But still had same problem. At this point contacted ATT support supervisor-we spent about 4hr working on problem--He was using your v 31.5.0--and had no problem accessing and saving attachments using remolt access on my comp. We also found using my comp.FF v 36.0.4 & v 37.0.2 browser, that we could without any problems access an save attachments--AOL mail-- & mail2web.--& IE--Even when forwarding inaccessible mail to above sites.
He informed me that (ATT mail Yahoo)only uses resources to make them compatible with--Google IE & Chrome &Apple? (basically he was saying, that they would NOT commit resources to FF--any version)BUT he was not allowed to commit.
PS: The last time I know it worked ok was 3-18-15 I have 3 comp.2 wxp pro 1 w7 pro the same problem on all 3--so feel confident not OS related-but compatible problems with FF & yahoo mail.
The ATT support supervisor-was unable to determined the date they may have made changes on their site.without extensive research-which we decided wasn't worth the effort as they wouldn't look in to it.
I hope someone or FF will be able find a workaround-as I do not want to use the browsers they suggest. I LOVE FF.
Thank You Gary

With the newest Firefox, some Security Certificates have been disabled because of issues with new mal-ware. Can you check with the site on what Security Certificates they are using?
https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/Firefox/Releases/37/Site_Compatibility#Security
I have no idea what you are asking me to do ??--can you explain at a dummy level--I wont be offended. gary
Always remember; the only dumb question . . . . . . . . Is the one you don't ask.
When something is sent over the web, it is normally "coded" to prevent others from accessing the signals. But just like the code-breakers back in WW2, those codes sometimes get broken. Once that happens, that code is no longer safe, and is discontinued. In the last few months, several of the "codes" were broken, so Mozilla disabled them.
Ask their support about SSL and TSL. Even if you don't understand the answer, write it down, and post it here.
We had a similar thread about Yahoo! attachments last week (unsolved): Unable to download email attachments from Yahoo! mail. Could you take a look at the suggestions in that thread to see whether any are helpful?

I am having problems as to what email address to use to reply ?
what imfo. do you need about SSL and TSL-It is very hard to get to a supervisor--If there is a pacific question that can be ask of anyone--you have to go threw 3 different people to get to a supervisor and they normally call back later. what do I ask ?? gary
I spent some time goggling SSl &Tsl to try and determine what you wanted me to ask ATT. What I found-correct me if I am wrong, was that every time you connect to server codes are handshake to verify security. This code will change at every connect.Sample.SHA1 Fingerprint: DA:40:18:8B:91:89:A3:ED:EE:AE:DA:97:FE:2F:9D:F5:B7:D1:8A:41 I contacted ATT--(which I would rather have had a colonoscopy) I finally got to a supervisor,he verified that was the case in regards to SSL,He was unable to determine exactly what you wanted. The only thing he thought was that you needed this. SSl (on) PORTS IN 995 OUT 465 Sense every thing on site worked fine except attachments,He also suggested it was a FF software/security problem, which could only be addressed by Mozilla.Or use another wed mail,He suggested ThunderBird & Firefox (AS that is what he uses)We both agreed that FF had the best add-ons Sense I spent quite some time with two different supervisor's. and there approach seemed acceptable. What would you suggest for my next step ?? The IT teck will be calling me 4-28-15 @ 12pm to see current status.
I've called the big guys to help you. Good luck.
THANK YOU gary
In the meantime, were any of the suggestions in the earlier thread useful? https://support.mozilla.org/questions/1059035#answer-721495
NO I tried but didn't help thank you gary
Was the IT Tech able to help?
If not, I advise trying Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Firefox Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode that temporarily turns off hardware acceleration, resets some settings, and disables add-ons (extensions and themes).
If Firefox is open, you can restart in Firefox Safe Mode from the Help menu:
- Click the menu button , click Help and select Restart with Add-ons Disabled.
If Firefox is not running, you can start Firefox in Safe Mode as follows:
- On Windows: Hold the Shift key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
- On Mac: Hold the option key while starting Firefox.
- On Linux: Quit Firefox, go to your Terminal and run firefox -safe-mode
(you may need to specify the Firefox installation path e.g. /usr/lib/firefox)
When the Firefox Safe Mode window appears, select "Start in Safe Mode".
If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, theme, or hardware acceleration. Please follow the steps in the Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems article to find the cause.
To exit Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.
When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help others with the same problem.
Both IT techs tried the safe mode,no change. In fact Hunter the second tech uses FF on All NON job related computers so he was more advanced in his research. He suggested switching from Yahoo to Thunderbird. If you were unable to solve the problem. He was logged into my computer, and look into some FF hidden arias which I was unable to address. Since ALL other aspects of Yahoo worked (except attachments) he felt very confident It was software compatibility problem. At that point we decided that he had provided all the help he could, and wished me luck. Gary
Ps: we also Troubleshooted extensions, -- basically we disabled ALL - firewall virus-any running programs that were not needed to use comp. to see if they were causing conflicts. So I think he approached all aspects viewed on your site. gary
Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problem.
See "Creating a profile":
- http://kb.mozillazine.org/Standard_diagnostic_-_Firefox#Profile_issues
If the new profile works then you can transfer files from a previously used profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over problems.
Sorry but I am in the middle of forwarding about 100 photo emails from yahoo to aol for a clients jewelry, which I will have to photoshop some, so he can proof. He is chomping at the bit.
I am not ignoring you as I to want to resolve this problem. Can I get back to you later---????
