I messed with the config editor and can't get mail.
I reset my changes, but Thunderbird doesn't get new messages on any of my machines, even older versions. I uninstalled and re-installed Thunderbird. No change. Is there any hope to fix this or do I need to establish a new account?

Of course not. Re-installing the application doesn't touch the profile with all your data.
Is there any hope to fix this

Is there any particular reason why you'd expect a new account to work any better?
