Since upgrading to Firefox 4 I have had nothing but trouble. How do I downgrade and not lose my bookmarks? Or just downgrade without uninstalling Firefox?
It won't load properly, freezes, crashes unexpectedly, won't pull up PDF files from web sites and has issues running with hotmail. I've used Firefox for years and have never had this kind of problem. How do I downgrade to an older version? The new version 4 is obviously not ready to run and is riddled with problems.

I have just been made to look a right fool because of Firefox 4. My boss now thinks I cannot access a simple email! He was having issues with IE and his homepage had been hijacked, so I installed Firefox (forgetting it automatically installed the newest version) and it was horrible. The stupid browser won't open the Tiscali email in-box for some reason and it made it look like I had done something wrong, but it works perfectly well on my computer which runs the latest Firefox 3.6. I downloaded 4 for home use because I thought it would be even better, but it was truly awful and I erred by downloading it for my boss, thinking it would make his internet use better! Now I had to uninstall loads of rubbish from his IE browser and reset it all.
All the buttons have moved, the tabs are in the wrong place and it is unresponsive! Why on earth have they trashed Firefox!
To get back on track with my home browser, all I did was reactivate the install of Firefox 3.16.6 (I kept the install file luckily) and it overwrote the horrible Firefox 4 and all was back to normal. All my bookmarks and quicklinks were still in place.
I think it is full of bugs, and my recommendation is to search for Firefox three, and (without un-installing Firefox 4) run the install file as normal to revert to your previous (much better and fully working) browser. It worked for me. If Mozilla force Firefox 4 on me I will switch to Google Chrome or IE. It is HORRIBLE. Mozilla what were you thinking! Sort your act out!!!!! Don't fix what is not broken!
You can install any earlier versions of Firefox from the link below.
Download Firefox 3.6.16 here and get back to being able to use your web browser until they sort the darn bugs out! I am sure eventually they will have sorted out the issues of 4 so it is working again. But seriously, 4 is one bad, ugly browser!

I finally had it with FireFox 4.o. They shouldn't have released it, if there isn't a PDF plug in for it yet! I just downloaded and installed the previous version (3.6.13). It's on the web if you search for it. All my bookmarks, and other presets are still here. Easy peasy.
SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIT
Firefox 4 on my Mac was working for me until I installed OnePassword. Now it is DOA! Won't even get through the startup before crashing instantly. This sucks.
BTW, I reinstalled 4.0 per a suggestion above and didn't help at all. I can't figure out how to downgrade to 3.6 for Mac. Lots of direction for Windows but none for Mac?
I also had problems with Hotmail after loading Firefox 4.0.1. It would give a message about wrong code or something and would ask me to open a certain file. I tried reloading Hotmail solved the problem temporarily until the last try when it wouldn't do anything. I also found that Hotmail would send 3 copies of the same e-mail message. After enduring for a week, I looked up this site and followed the suggestion to go back to download the old version - which seemed to go well. This is the first time I have ever had a problem with Firefox. (Maybe there's a Microsoft mole in the Firefox team. :)
Complete junk of a program. I can't even get 3.6.16 to work right anymore. 4.0.1 can't even find a page that I'm on with IE anymore. Plugin containers opening 6 at a time and crashing the browser to the point of unusability. Options tab constantly freezing into Not Responding mode. Thanks, Mozilla, for completely ruining any fun I had with you, I'll be advising people NOT to download this trash heap of a program until you fix the bugs that are killing it.
Im not one for complaints, usually just move away from the product. However I felt So betrayed about, what in my opinion firefox 4 is a complete pile of crap, that I have actually registered to show my dissatisfaction. I have trusted mozilla for years and never had any problems with your browsers, until now. This amazing product is the first Ive had that drops internet seemingly at random, wont print pdf docs properly, and most frustrating of all settings have been hidden, I even tried going to the help pages and took one look at it and gave up. Ive always liked Mozilla products but this latest offering has put me off and sent me back to IE. Please, put it back to when it work really well...............
Its poor. Firefox up to Verson 4 had been a joy, I loved the interface and its reliability. But, SHAME, I actually had to try Internet Explorer on my laptop as I simply couldn't fathom why, after uninstalling and then installing the brand spanking new Adober Reader, every document I needed to read crashed my browser.... And yet Explorer worked properly. It couldn't be, could it? Yep, its Firefox 4, a useless browser when it can't help crashing when composing an email (hotmail) or downloading a simple document. I've reinstalled the old version and I'm happy again. Unexpected from Firefox, a real shame too.
initially the only problem on 1 desktop & 1 laptop was loss of bookmarks, which was fixed by renaming corrupt sqlite to sqlite.old. But 2nd desktop had been out of circulation for 3 mo, & even before I updated to 4.0, it froze upon opening. I uninstalled & installed 4.0, & it still freezes on the opening window. can't find anything that offers a fix yet.
You need 512mB of RAM and 200mB hard drive space for this crap, now then after all the updates and fixes how much will this expand to?
Whats gets me is they bring a product out with flaws... no one mentioned WebGL, the Register advises turning it off - what does Firefox have to say about this, here is the link if you want the full details-:
http://www.theregister.co.uk/2011/05/11/chrome_firefox_security_threat/ this applies to FF4, Chrome Safari and Opera latest editions.
Right now I'm looking at the lesser known browsers, maybe this is the way to go.
Mozilla likes to brag about the number of downloads.... what about the number of uninstallers, remember the uninstall window that opens with Internet Exploder "Tell us what you that and why you are leaving Firefox###", no one bothers to tel em' will be their excuse. Personally I don't care if 20 zillion folks have downloaded FF4 I don't go of the 'hype'.
Mozilla must know of these problem's so why can't they maintain a browser that works instead of keeping up with their competitors, maybe they are hand in hand with Google and Microsoft in collecting data.
Many of us want to use the web rather than not being guinea pigs all the time.
