How can I disable the quickfind forward slash / in Firefox desktop?
Our on-line portal has a VNC interface that works through the default browser. We use Firefox because it works so well with our cloud. However, if the VM being accessed is command-line only Linux, when you enter a backslash the find box pops up. Linux commands can have several backslashes so this is a real problem. Is there a way to disable the quickfind backslash in Firefox? Thanks!

I think you mean the regular "forward" slash. The backslash (\) should not do anything, unless it has been remapped for some reason.
Unfortunately, the only suggestion I saw in a search of past threads was to use an extension to disable the / key from calling up Quick Find:
I am chalking that up to Friday and I just need to go home. :) I already found the solution you suggested but it doesn't work well as an easy fix solution for customers. Appreciate your help- Thanks!
What kind of input area is the field where you enter this command?
The quick find bar shouldn't open when a search field has focus, This field should only open if no input field has focus.
Does the same happen with the single quote key (')?
Can you post a screenshot that shows the Inspector with this element selected (Inspect Element in the right-click context menu)?
We are seeing this in a VNC console to a RHEL command-line only VM. It doesn't appear with a single quote. Only if you are entering a / in a command. The screen shot I uploaded shows the quick find box open in the lower left hand corner. The only way to disable is to hit the ESC key every time you hit the forward slash key This only happens if Firefox is the default browser. Unfortunately, we have to use Firefox since it is what is supported by our vendor. Is there a way to disable quick find in Firefox? The Search Keys suggestion mentioned above doesn't work in Firefox ESR 38.0.1. Thanks!
