I would like new tabs I open to show Google (which I've set as my home page), not my browsing history: how do I do this?

In the newest version of Mozilla, I did not like my browsing history, etc which automatically opened, so I re-set it so Google is my home page. However, every time I open a new tab, the browsing history, etc all appears. How can I fix this? I like a clear, clear home page. [I do not want to see suggestions as to what I want to look at; if I want to know which sites I've visited recently, I will check my bookmarks or look under history myself.] Thanks for any help you can give.

Hi again, I think I have figured it out myself -- I used the little "sunshine" symbol in the top right of the screen to Customize my new tab page, and made it so only a search engine appears on the screen.
