Facebook not working on latest firefox

more options

I have been using firefox for 3 years already and up until now there is a problem with facebook on firefox. I tried using other web-browsers and facebook works perfectly. I already reset it to factory settings, restart firefox, restart pc, restart router, clear cache and nothing works. I even disabled the addons. Sometimes facebook works, when it works it says redirecting... in the facebook tab and it didn't show that up when facebook didn't work. Screenshot of facebook : http://i.imgur.com/ZQgmsdX.jpg

Thanks in advance.

Chosen solution

I just solved this problem, the problem is with http facebook doesn't work on firefox so it is required to use https so the link becomes https://facebook.com . The links on other web browser which uses http://facebook.com just fine. It seems this is a weird firefox bug.

Hello,

Try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.

(If you're not using it, switch to the Default theme.)

  • You can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the Shift key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
  • Or open the Help menu and click on the Restart with Add-ons Disabled... menu item while Firefox is running.

Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"

If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems article for that.

To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.

When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help other users who have the same problem.

Thank you.

I have had a problem since 7/15/2013

When I log onto FB using Firefox, I cant see the "ticker box" on the right side. When I log onto FB using IE, I can see it. Not sure whats going on there, but FB recently updated and after that update, I have this problem.

Anyone got any ideas??

Thanks

Facebook isn't working correctly with Firefox. The first thing I noticed since I did the update, is that you cannot Comment on a Post in Facebook, you can't seen older posts, and that's just the beginning. I "did" try opening Firefox in Safe Mode without Add-ons and still the same!

Same problem here. I can access FB on IE and Safari just fine. Shouldn't be having to do anything "special" to use Firefox browser. Please fix guys! (this became a problem after updating to Firefox 23.0.1)

Hi SherMK, which pages are giving you problems?

(1) Games or other pages with embedded content: If the content area is blank and you see a "shield" icon to the left of the URL in the address bar, please see this article: Mixed content blocking in Firefox

(2) Pages with videos: please see the below Flash guidance.

(3) Other pages: please see the below general suggestion and describe the symptoms in more detail.

When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.

(1) Bypass Firefox's Cache

Use Ctrl+Shift+r to reload the page fresh from the server.

Alternately, you also can clear Firefox's cache completely using:

orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced

On the Network mini-tab > Cached Web Content : "Clear Now"

If you have a large hard drive, this might take a few minutes.

(2) Remove the site's cookies (save any pending work first). While viewing a page on the site, try either:

  • right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
  • Alt+t (open the classic Tools menu) > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"

In the dialog that opens, you can remove the site's cookies individually.

Then try reloading the page. Does that help?

This is some standard guidance that addresses the most common Flash issues. I'm sure you've seen some of it before, but just in case:

(1) Make sure all recorders/downloaders that interact with Flash media are as up-to-date as possible, or disable them.

(2) Disable hardware graphics acceleration in Firefox and in Flash

(A) In Firefox, un-check the box here and restart:

orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced > General > "Use hardware acceleration when available"

(B) In Flash, see this support article from Adobe: http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/video-playback-issues.html#main_Solve_video_playback_issues

(3) Disable protected mode (Windows Vista/7/8)

See this support article from Adobe under the heading "Last Resort": Adobe Forums: How do I troubleshoot Flash Player's protected mode for Firefox?

This worked for me:

After testing with various plug-ins disabled, I discovered that the culprit for me was NoScript 2.6.7.1. Disabling NoScript allowed the FB site to function normally.

Now here's the weird part: With NoScript re-enabled, FB works if I FORBID JavaScript, but the site fails if I ALLOW JavaScript. With scripts forbidden, FB displays a warning banner telling me that I'll get a "better experience" by enabling JavaScript, but I can at least see the content on the page rather than almost nothing.

The "culprit" for me here was Adblock. After disabling like 5 add-ons (the fifth being Adblock), FB worked fine and didn't have all the weird display/inability to comment/etc. problems anymore.

I re-enabled Adblock and just disabled it for FB only using the icon to the far right of the address bar at the top - the red "stop-sign" icon.

Hi phoenixs5, that should have cleared up during the past hour, according to the last posts in this thread: Suddenly, *only with Firefox* all computers in the house show (Error code: ssl_error_rx_record_too_long) when trying to access any Google product.
