Firefox keeps crashing and freezing
I am using Windows 8.1. Firefox either crashes or freezes multiple times/day.

I have tried to set these 2 plugins to Never Activate, but everytime Firefox is restarted, they re-activate:
Cisco OpenH264 Video Codec
Shockwave Flash 16.0 r0

The five most recent crashes are coded OOM or "out of memory". This doesn't mean literally that every byte of memory was used, but that Firefox wasn't able to get a block of memory from Windows that suited its needs at the time. Your system memory use percentages were 67-81%, which are getting up there, but probably the bigger issue is how fragmented memory can get if you use many programs and go a long time between shutdowns.
I can't tell from the crash reports what Firefox was doing at the time it ran into memory problems, and it looks like you didn't enter any comments. Hopefully if you restart Windows this won't recur right away, but if it does, could you keep track of what was happening at the time to see whether that identifies a pattern or culprit?
Thank you so much for your reply.
I completely shut down every night. I have a new computer with 8 Gb of ram, having moved up from one with 4 Gb
I am using the computer in exactly the same way as I did with my old one, so I'm unclear on why I'm having OOM issues now that I have twice as much memory.
There doesn't seem to be any kind of pattern to when FF either crashes or freezes.
Any ideas on how to proceed?
Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web Link} by holding down the <Shift>
(Mac Options) key, and then starting Firefox. Is the problem still there?
