I just updated Firefox and lost things I use, how do I go back to the old one?

Hey.................I'm an old guy struggling with technology but after this latest "refresh" I get a new info bar at the top that is of no use to me but I'm missing the ability to readily print from internet sites and my email. I just want my old Firefox back that didn't mess all this up AND I have limited ability to follow some massive list of instructions. I have already deleted the "old files" which I have done for years because I saw no need. In this case NEWER was not better and this is very distressing, just leave well enough alone..................who thought up this change should be taken out back!!

Chosen solution

To turn the menu bar on:

Use any one of these methods to show the toolbar list:

  • in Customize mode > Toolbars button (see: Customize Firefox controls, buttons and toolbars)
  • right-click (on Mac Ctrl+click) a blank spot on the tab bar (or the "+" button)
  • (menu bar) View > Toolbars
On Windows, tap the Alt key to activate the menu bar temporarily.

Once the list appears, click Menu Bar.

Hi Jim, if you launch a new Windows (for example, press Ctrl+n) does Firefox look more normal?

What is on the Info Bar?? Normally Firefox shows:

  • Optional title bar showing the long version of the text on the current tab
  • Optional menu bar (File, Edit, View...)
  • Tabs bar
  • Main toolbar with the site address and buttons
  • Optional bookmarks toolbar

To turn optional bars on/off, and to find important toolbar buttons that you want to add to the main toolbar, try the Customize page. See: Customize Firefox controls, buttons and toolbars.

Does that get you closer to what you're looking for?

If you deleted the Old Firefox Data folder, you may be able to restore it from the Windows 7 "Recycle Bin." I don't know if that will be necessary. If you have all your bookmarks and saved passwords, then maybe not.

In most cases I am missing the optional menu bar, how do I get it back?
