How do I uninstall 8 and revert to 7?
I can't stand this constant stream of upgrades. Once Again, FF breaks important extensions with an unnecessarily frequent upgrade.
Enough. I can't stand this unnecessary hassle. The main reason I use FF rather others is the available extension. Keep breaking the extensions...and it not only wastes my time but it means I may as well use something else, right?
How do I get rid of 8 and revert to 7?
Chosen solution
Morning coffee and ghostery both of them are compatible with Firefox 8

you can use addon compatibility reporter to use incompatible addon

Can you tell me those extension name which are incompatible? #fxhelp
Morning Coffee for one....Ghostery for another. Those are both necessities to me. Since I've now uninstalled 8 I can't give you a complete list since the browser is not on my system
I was also deceived because when I clicked "ok" to install it only told me that one add on---"awesome screen capture" was incompatible. That was inaccurate and not representative of what I got when I restarted the browser.
In any event, can you tell me how to revert to 7? My intention at this point is to stay with 7 or switch to Chrome, but I'm not going through this constant upgrade process any more. I'm tired of my wasting my time like this.

What you're reporting in terms of Morning Coffee etc is NOT what FF 8 reported when I looked at the add-on modules.
In any event--this just wastes my time for no reason. I was perfectly content with FF 7. The constant stream of updates takes my time and tries my patience. At a certain point, I am going to either just ignore them or switch to Chrome, but I'm not to keep going through this every time FF has a new idea.
I am also tired of reinstalling extensions with these upgrades.
I had to upgrade my Roboform software just 2 weeks ago to work with the last Firefox version. Now I will have to do it again but need to wait till they release a compatible FF8 extension. Since that is a password management program and I have 100s of online accounts it is forcing me to use IE until a fix is available.
This must be a major upgrade because only one out of 12 other extensions are still working this morning.
Please give us an easy way to revert back to previous versions in later releases
S. Combs---I had a long list of extensions claimed to be incompatible.
Realistically speaking the problem for FF here is that much of why people wanted to use it was the extensions. That was heavily advertised. Make it do what you want! Now they adopt a policy that trots out a stream of quick version updates and keeps breaking the extensions and ...why use it? I tried out Chrome awhile back and while it was faster, there is some anguish in changing browsers and even if it is a tie, I'd rather stay with the familiar. Plus, Chrome didn't do a very good job with extensions, so it wasn't a tie. I liked Firefox better. But if I'm going to lose critical extensions every time an upgrade comes out --given the new and bad policy of frequent upgrades that seems to be often!--I may as well get used to it and use something else.
What this really reveals is the limitations of the open source model. It's no one's job to make sure everything is actually working, compatible and updated. Open source has many advantages. Here's one of the downsides.

Updating to ff8 broke Selenium IDE 1.3.0 (their latest).
This addon is vital to our web site testing and we are currently unable to run automated tests.
Roboform no longer works with Firefox. I have roboform 7.6.2 and firefox 8.0 and thunderbird 8.0 dumped my calendar! I have windows 7. This is really bad.
stop..stop..STOP already! It is one thing to OFFER a new version every 6 weeks, but please dont force me to upgrade and then prevent me from reverting back to the version I was perfectly happy with.
How do I get from 8 back to 7?
If we get FireFox 9 before the end of the year, I am moving to Chrome.. PERMANENTLY.
As helpfully set forth by Swarnava:
http://releases.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/7.0.1/
Please excuse my ignorance. I'm a newbie. I went to your link and saw a list of directories. I'm not sure what to do next. Any instruction you could provide would be much appreciated.
Thanks
Threw me initially, too. Drill down: win 32 and then to en-us (english us) Assuming you're an English speaker in the USA.
That gets you here:
http://releases.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/7.0.1/win32/en-US/
I picked the .exe file. Download it.
Before installing, uninstall the ver 8. Uninstall ver 8 from Win Control panel. Now, run the .exe file you downloaded. (Just doubleclick on it)
Worked fine. Got me back exactly to where I was before the upgrade attack. :) I did have to re-enable some add-ons that 8 disabled after I got 7 back up and running, no big deal. Everything came back perfectly.

@battagfv
You want to select the correct directory based on your Operating System. I.e. if you are Windows XP, you would choose win32, and then select your language.
From there you should see 1 or 2 (maybe more) *.exe files to download.

Thanks for the info. I grateful for your assistance.
Mouse Gestures is a must for me using Firefox. I have used it for years and don't want to use a version it will not work with.
where can I get an apk for ff 7.0.1 for android?
I got Roboform and a few other disabled addons to work with FF8 using the Compatibility Reporter here https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/add-on-compatibility-reporter/
There was an extension called MR Tech that used to be able to do this by saying "make compatible." Ironically, at various points MR Tech became...incompatible. :) Really--a waste of time. Plus, you don't really know whether just "making compatible" is safe or not. It may just be a version conflict and meaningless. BUT... It may really screw up your browser. You could have big time problems. Not worth the time or effort. I'm tired of this. Ver. 7 is working great. I intend to keep it for the forseeable future. Maybe when version 10 comes out in March, I'll upgrade to ver. 8.

I had automatic updates enabled - these have worked well in the past. Updating to 8.0 broke the Adobe Flash full screen option which I use all the time and stopped the very useful LightShot Add-on working. I wasted at least an hour trying to find out how to downgrade (one might have expected a previous version link somewhere but I couldn't find one). Eventually I found this thread. A big thank you to Swarnava and monsieurms for their helpful replies.
I have two other machines which also upgraded themselves before I could stop them. No more. You can stop the automatic updates in Tools: Options: Advanced: Updates. I have.
I HATE VERSION 8: Lost google toolbar, lost bookmarks, lost roboform, and about to lose my mind!! I'm 61 and I don't want to screw around learning another browser. This is THE WORST. Twitter add on???? PULLEEEZE
Just want my earlier version BACK and can't find the download for it
