Problem with drop down windows (History, Form Drop Downs, etc) when wireless mouse is plugged in
We have a wireless Logitech M305 mouse that we use with our laptops. When the mouse is plugged in and we are using Firefox, the status bar's features either don't work or are somehow disabled. The drop-down arrow won't drop-down and stay open - it's as if it's trying to pull down a list of the sites you've been to, but it "blinks" and doesn't stay open. Typing a frequently-used word will cause it to "blink", too.
Of course, when I unplug the mouse and use the touchpad, the drop-down arrow works just fine. But I find it hard to type with the touchpad engaged. I'd much rather use a mouse.
Also, this doesn't happen using IE (which I can't STAND using).
A techie person had once directed me through how to fix this, but I can't remember what we did.
I've done everything suggested already, and nothing has worked. That includes: - experimenting with restarting the computer (with mouse off, with the mouse plugged in, etc) - uninstalling and reinstalling Firefox - starting Firefox in "safe mode" - uninstalling and reinstalling the mouse (even though it's plug-and-play, I found a software download through the manufacturer)... oddly, I'm also having problems with my computer's and mouse's settings (the volume, for example, will change on its own, the pointer speed changes on its own, etc). - disabling the hardware settings in Firefox None of those things have fixed it, so please don't suggest them again.

I'm using the M305 mouse, but without the Logitech drivers and not having any problems.
I suspect your problems are with configuration of those drivers or something else. First thing to do might be to revert to the Win7 mouse drivers, and then see how it is.
I've actually tried a few - Win7 drivers, Logitech drivers, rolled-back drivers, updated drivers, you name it. Perhaps screwdrivers?
Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} While you are in safe mode; Press the <Alt> or <F10> key to bring up the tool bar. Followed by;
Windows; Tools > Options Linux; Edit > Preferences Mac; application name > Preferences
Then Advanced > General. Look for and turn off Use Hardware Acceleration.
Poke around safe web sites and see if there is still a problem. Then restart.
As stated before, I'd tried all those things before -- restarting in safe mode, disabling hardware acceleration -- and that hasn't helped. I did those things once again just now, following the instructions above, and it did not fix it.
The real mystery is that several months ago, I'd had this same problem before (with the same computer and the same mouse!) and someone fixed it. The problem returned on its own.
