I have used Firefox since I bought my new computer in January. I had it set to open to Yahoo as my home page and it always has. I noticed on last Friday that when I start from any location Including the target location from my shortcuts that not just the home page is opening but a blank page also. My son was useing my computer that day but I have no idea where he went but could this have been caused from somthing he downloaded? and How do I get Firefox back to just the homepage opening?

You can check the home page setting:

  • Tools > Options > General > Startup: Home page

Firefox supports multiple home pages separated by '|' (pipe) symbols.

You can check the target line in the Firefox desktop shortcut (right-click: Properties) to make sure that nothing is appended after the path to the Firefox program.

Nope I only have one home page setup and no pipe symbols after my home page in the (Tools > Options > General > Startup) it only reads (https://www.yahoo.com) this has been copied and pasted exactly as it reads there.

Also when I checked the target line it reads ("C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe") and this is exactly as it is to read according to an answer that was sent to a similar question in your archives from March 17 of this year.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window
