How can I create a customized button for formatting table borders?

more options

I often paste from Excel into an email message, and would like a button or at least a right-click menu for the FORMAT TABLE PROPERTIES as it takes 2-3 clicks each time to access it. Is there such a thing? I've searched the add-ons to no avail. Perhaps there is a config change I can make that would have the table paste with borders already in place (I have to change the border thickness to "1" each and every time as it's defaulted to "0" -- maybe there is a place to have it default to "1"?)

I've attached a pic of the menu I'm asking about.

I don't know of a setting for that...

It might not be any easier than clicking, but based on the little underlines indicating the accelerator keys, the keyboard sequence would be either:

  • Alt+o b o
  • Alt o b o

Ummm I don't see the indication for any key sequences?

I guess you have to already know that pressing and releasing the Alt key activates the menu bar in most applications. Then if you look at the underlines in each menu command, that is the "accelerator" key that emulates clicking on that command. If you grew up with the Mac or didn't use Windows prior to Windows 95, the idea of operating menus with the keyboard might be an alien concept...

Yes, pressing the ALT key and o works to open the menu but then I still have to click to go further to format a table as there are no ALT options past that.

Never mind -- even though mine doesn't show that I could press a key to go further, I tried your key sequences, and that works. I am still looking for a button but that will help for now.

There is an extension I've never tried called Custom Buttons which may allow you to create your own custom table format button. There's also a support forum where you can ask for help on how to do it.
