Can I sort and store Thunderbird mails received in different folders (e.g. family / work / etc/) ?
Hej there, just in case question not self-explanatory: I can always search mails received, e.g. by sender, topic, &c; but sometimes I want to look at all the mails on a topic which may be from different people and may not all have the same subject heading or key words. Can I have a set of folders (ideally expandable as needed) within the in-box, or elsewhere but accessible in Thunderbird, where I can file copies of mails by topic / group etc. ? Sorry if already in instructions and just too dim to notice. Incidentally, I could not find a database of past questions answered to search, though I feel sure that must exist somewhere and I have probably been too blind to spot that as well. Thanks for help, Old Gobbo

You can create subfolders and move or copy messages into them. You can tag messages. You can use a Saved Search folder to view related messages, so long as there is some consistent factor that would allow a filter to identify them.
Right-click is your friend.
This site is frustrating (even for regular contributors) in that it doesn't invite you to browse past messages, and searching successfully relies on you hitting on the right keyword.

Thanks a heap, Zeno - and yes, I must have been blind, since right-click on Inbox does offer the option of New Folder, I must have just read straight past it. Your other advice is also helpful. Thanks again, Old Gobbo
