Hello there,

Windows 8.1 64bit - no antivirus software installed - Windows file indexing service turned off. Thunderbird with 3 imap accounts, lighting and google calendar.

Thunderbird freezes constantly, start it up, I can read like 1 mail, then the interface is frozen again. No CPU-usage. The exact same setup on my Windows 7 64bit machine never ever froze for a second in over a year. Sometimes it "comes back to life" after a couple of minutes, but rarely. It seems to be related to syncing either email, calendar or both, cause when the day comes to rest the freezes appear less often. Also it's not completely frozen, just the main parts of the interface, I cannot click on anything, but it showes me sometimes hover infos like about a new mail.

Thanks for helping me out, Martin.

Thunderbird in safe mode seems to solve it, still feeling a bit laggy but never freezes. So it's the calendar addon stuff? Can't I use that?

It might be a specific calendar that you are using. But I'm not a good person to assist on that. Will ask someone else to comment
