latest FF on windows 8.1 Sometimes on turning of FF instead of one FF screen coming up, I get a little window popping up in upper left corner over the FF screen. On the bottom of my screen ( where Start button and other icons are) I see that 2 windows are open. I have to click on FF icon so it shows the two little screens and I have to X out the secondary screen. Sometimes it happens with 2-3 secondary screens (windows). It's been happening for a while now.I've looked at 'options' and everything looks good there. Home page - yahoo.com / compuserve.com and TV listings Open new windows in new tab Don't load tabs until selected

what could be it??

What is in these unwanted windows? Ads?

You may have ad / mal-ware. Further information can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware article.

Run most or all of the listed malware scanners. Each works differently. If one program misses something, another may pick it up.

My AVG said everything was ok. But I ran a new Malwarebytes and It picked up 19 PUPs. I got rid of the one that way in FF ,rebooted and the extra windows didn't come up. Will check back with you if it comes back. Sometimes I run Spybot and Malwarebyte along with AVG but have not done so in a long time. Seems I will have to remember to run them more often.

Thanks

Normal anti-virus may not pick up some malware. Run the mal-scanners once in a great while.
