My computer went down today and I had to have it repaired.
When I was back on I noticed that Firefox had changed where the bookmarks were. Before today the bookmarks were at the top of the screen - not a sidebar. Is there a way to get it back to the top?

There are four different places you can view bookmarks. Maybe more!
(1) Bookmarks menu on the classic menu bar. This is hidden by default on Windows. If you want to display the menu bar, I'll give the steps further down in the post.
(2) Bookmarks menu button, which is just next to the star button. This is largely the same menu in a different place.
(3) Bookmarks Toolbar, which appears below the address bar. Steps to display later in this post.
(4) Bookmarks Sidebar, which shows the contents of the Bookmarks Menu, Bookmarks Toolbar, and the "Other Bookmarks" category.
To turn the menu bar and Bookmarks Toolbar on and off, you can use one of these methods to show the toolbar list and select the desired bars there:
- right-click a blank spot on the tab bar (or the "+" button)
- tap the Alt key to activate the classic menu bar > View > Toolbars
- in Customize mode > Show/Hide Toolbars (see: Customize Firefox controls, buttons and toolbars)
To turn on the Menu Bar, Bookmarks Toolbar, or other bars, click it on the list.
Does that help?

By the way, did they save all your other data? Does everything else seem to be okay?
tap the Alt key to activate the classic menu bar > View > Toolbars
This one brought the bookmarks, edit, view, history, bookmarks, tools, and help up to where I want it but when I started to type it disappeared. Each time I want to see the bookmarks I am having to click the alt key. Never had to do that before.
Well, I did click the title bar (totally not knowing why I did :) ) and it stayed.
I dislike it very much when we have to update and everything seems to change. Oh well.
Thanks for you help.
Like written above, you can open the Menu bar temporarily by holding the Alt key. That allows to access the View menu where you can select what toolbars you want to see permanently (Menu Bar, Bookmarks Toolbar).
- View -> Toolbars
You can tap the Alt key or press F10 to show the Menu Bar - "3-bar" menu button -> Customize -> Show/Hide Toolbars
- Right-click empty toolbar area
