Deleting a huge amount of emails doesn't free up space. Largest folders Inbox and Sent. (not gmail)
Hello, my Thunderbird profile had reached 17Gb. It contained messages from 2010 to this day. I deleted (after backing them up, of course) ALL messages from ALL folders from 2010 to 2017 - seven whole years of emails, attachments and the like. I have also compacted all the folders with Thunderbird and Xpunge... But eventually the size of my mailbox has only decreased from 17Gb to 13Gb. How is it possible? And how can I free up more space? I thought I'd end up with a 4-5Gb profile... Thanks for your help :)

You might try sorting those largest folders by message size and then where possible deleting the largest messages, or attachments

Find out what the large files are in your profile still taking that much disk space.

Maveg, did you do this?
And is this a gmail account?
Sorry for not replying earlier. No, it's not a gmail account. I tried analyzing the profile folder, but the weight is equally distributed as before, and bigger in the Inbox and Sent folder of the mail account I use the most. Basically, I deleted 6 out of 8 years (leaving only the last two years in the archive) but this only decreased the weight by 30%. I'm starting to think I must have received way more attachments in these last two years, which does make sense... no more clues at the moment.
