Why cant Firefox Focus be Mozilla's primary browser ?
Firefox Focus has features all web browsers should incorporate, after all, who wants online activity spied on ?

Why is there no character count on these text boxes ?
Why do you need a character count? It's unlikely you will hit the limit unless you start pasting numerous paragraphs of text.
But as to your question, Focus is not a highly featured browser compared with a traditional mobile browser; there are things missing that some users need. You can use Private windows and Tracking Protection in Firefox for Android while enjoying those other traditional features:
And as to the comparison of being in your yard, when you visit a website, you are going to their yard, and they are very curious what you are doing there. And how you got there and what you do after you leave. ;-)
