Facebook video calling problem.
Having a problem with webcam access in Firefox. For example, Facebook video calls, the page asks for permission to both microphone and camera, which I grant. then I get a general "An error occurred getting access to microphone/camera. When I go into privacy and security settings in Firefox, and click on the camera and microphone settings, there are never ANY sites in that screen that have tried to access the camera and microphone, and I can't arbitrarily put a site in there.
I've tried webcam testing sites, trolled forums and support threads for days, gone over the device settings in windows etc. The camera and mic functions perfectly well in Skype, but from Firefox, no. Also from Chrome and Opera, the same problem.
Has anybody encountered this? Any ideas?
Many thanks, Kenny.

Those settings are controlled by the O/S and if you don't give permission there the browser will have no access to those settings.
I've checked everywhere I could find, O/S wise, and permissions appear to be wide open. If it were an O/S thing, Skype wouldn't work would it?

More information.
When I use the webcam test on this site: https://webcamtests.com/ the camera access is granted, and the webcam passes the site's tests, Firefox correctly displays the camera access granted for that site.
But Facebook, even though permissions are granted, gives the error, "An error occurred when trying to get access to the camera/microphone. Hardware access aborted."
Looks like something specific to my system settings and Facebook.
If anyone has any ideas, I would be very grateful.

Ok, I have Windows 10 and I know unless you give those permission in Windows 7 the Browser will not see the Webcam nor be able to use the Mic. So you need to look in O/S Window 7 and look for those settings to check on them. Windows 10 and Windows 7 are different GUI but will be the in same location for control permission.
