Error "inbox folder too large for destination" 5.5GB - trying to copy Thunderbird folder (33.1GB) to 128GB flash
Trying to migrate to new computer. Copying the .../AppData/Roaming/Thunderbird folder (33GB) to a flash drive (128GB). Also get the same error on the "Sent" folder and then the copy process aborts. Yes, TB is not running. I tried several times with the same problem. However, I was able to copy the TB folder to another spot on my hard drive.
I was successful in copying a 22.4MB folder (music) to the flash drive, which incidentally, is brand new.
I am perplexed! The only thing that I noticed was that the "username" folder (.../username/AppData/Roaming) had a lock symbol on it. But as I said, I was successful copying this huge folder to another spot on my hard drive.
Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am running on a Windows 7 pro machine and need to move this file over to my new Windows 10 computer.
Thank you in advance, and best regards,
pam

How is the flash drive formatted, FAT32 or NTFS?

I am no sure what resolved my problem. I checked flash drive and it was set to "exFAT" and I did change the allocation to 4096.
I also changed the permissions on the top level "username" directory and all subordinate folders etc. I added a new user called "Authenticated Users" and gave this full control and had this new user propagate downward to all folders and files.
I was able to successfully move the Thunderbird folder, all 33.1GB of it! Installed just fine on my new windows 10 machine (coming from windows 7 pro).
As an added note: I was able to install from original CDs, Word and Excel (M/S Office 11) from 2003 onto my windows 10 system. I was also able to install from the original CD, Jasc Paint Shop Pro 8, version 8.10 from 2003. Rah! Macromedia Dreamweaver 2004 (version 7) also seemed to install, but I have yet to test out that it truly functions and properly uploads files.
Thank you,
pam
Forgot to mention that I also unlocked the "username" folder as in... c:/Users/"username" (removed the little lock icon from the Explorer listing). Why this was locked in the first place, I do not know.
