Cannot search through e-mails, some e-mails does not open (just a blank screen)
Hi Everyone,
I'm using Thunderbird with my 4 e-mail accounts. I have to admit I get a lot of e-mails. - a lot of junk mail, which mostly is going straight to 'junk' folders - a lot of e-mails with orders, payment confirmations, questions, etc.
So I have a few folders created (for example: questions, purchases, fedex shipments, postal shipments, etc)
I'm receiving 100+ mails daily (not including spam/junk). Now, Thunderbird unfortunately often acts unpredictably in: - some e-mail seems like empty and when I try to read them, they are just blank - some e-mail cannot be found via search utilities
What helps temporarily was to rebuilding the database (Delete the global-messages-db.sqlite file). However the issues returns rather quickly after this is done. Is there any known bug, perhaps I get too many e-mails, or moving the emails from 'default inboxes' to subfolders might be a problem? I'd appreciate any suggestions.

have you tried adding your thunderbird profile folder to your anti virus exclusions? It sounds like something is slowing access to files, or blocking them and anti virus products are king of the heap when it comes to that sort of thing. Anit virus scanning routinely takes 10 per Gb, my global index file is I think 4 or 5 Gb, each mail file is also in excess of a GB.
One way to help the situation is to compact folders regularly as space used by an email in the file used to store a folders emails is not freed until you compact. So if you get 500 emails a week and move most to other folder but the inbox and delete most of the rest, you inbox file grows by the size of all those emails. That is until a compact allows the space to be released. (Compact is on the File menu)
