I refreshed my firefox (as recommened ). I have now lost all my passwords and "restore previous history" .. I have managed to log in to Firefox but can't retrieve my passwords other than re-registering with my various accounts. How can I get back to my previous version of Firefox which was what I used for years with no problems.

Look on your desktop. Do you see a folder called; Old Firefox? Look inside. Look for the folder with the latest creation date.

Hello and thanks for the response. As this is very complicated for a non tech-head like me. I'm gonna try a basic log-in to Firefox and try and retrieve/see if my passwords have been saved anywhere in the system. Last time I looked they were not there! I did try the links you sent but too complicated for me. I couldn't see a "old firefox" folder on desktop. I do regret now having refreshed Firefox. Again thanks for your help and time.

Type about:profiles<enter> in the address bar. How many profiles are listed? How many should be there? Also, open the profile folder in your file explorer.

Hi, I've tried that, it's good that, alas, I wouldn't know what to do with it. It is showing three profiles Default. Default-Release Default-Release-1 In the meanwhile my Firefox seems back to normal (with new layout) I now have ELEVEN firefox processes (showing in Taskmaster) However I have my bookmarks etc; back, so something worked somewhere! I am sorry if I have wasted your time.Thank you, it's been an interesting exercise in the Tech side workings.

More than one process is normal for the current Firefox. http://www.ghacks.net/2016/07/22/multi-process-firefox/

Multi-process Firefox is codenamed "e10s". https://wiki.mozilla.org/Firefox/multiprocess
