Following all suggested procedures I cannot get the mobile app to stop opening incognito.
I have followed all the suggestions I can find. It constantly tells me I'm in incognito mode. Is there any other way? Should I delete the app and reinstall? I'm not a newb, been on the internet since 1996 and loaded and used a lot of programs an apps.

Hi
Are you able to attach a screenshot that shows the icon you are selecting to open Firefox for Android?
I guess because it is stuck in some kind of a incognito mode it will not allow me to take a screenshot. In fact it says at the bottom cannot take screenshot. So there's nothing I can show you except to tell you that features I should be able to use in a regular browser it's not allowing. Besides not allowing a screenshot I have what's installed called Google board. And I can use voice typing on almost literally any website or browser. And I suspect I could on Firefox too if it would allow it. But like screenshot it's disallowing it because it's in some sort of an incognito mode. I have pressed every menu every sub-menu that I can to find to get out of it and I find no way. It always opens up on a page talking about the misconceptions of private or incognito mode.

Also I see your point now about asking me what the icon looks like. I can assure you unequivocally that it is the true and honest Firefox icon. I've seen the fakers. This one has the fox's body and nose up on the left side coming up towards the top pointing clockwise.
Press the "tabs" icon (square icon with a number in the URL bar). Is the purple mask highlighted? Can you press default tab icon inside the Tabs Pane?
To both you folks above that have helped faithfully I thank you so much. Gladly, it's reversed itself and acting correctly. Sadly, I don't know how to tell you it happened. I've tried to post an image here now that it working to show you how it looks in the correct manner. I add an image and it stays progressing forever. So dropped that notion.
Where now when I click on the browser tabs open the mask was purple. I could find nowhere on the page no matter what I chose to change that. Now when I do that the incognito mask is white and things are well. Thanks so much for you attention, and sorry that I can't tell you exactly how to maybe help others?
Yeah, the image has been trying to load here for several minutes, and hasn't. Not sure what going on there. I am using Google Chrome latest on a Chromebook. Not a problem I've had before?
G'day and thank you~!~ jack ":-Dx
No problem.
My thinking was that you may have added the additional icon to open in private browsing mode directly. Glad to hear it is resolved now.

My experience is that if I open Firefox, but I don't have any tabs open If I click the button showing the mask in the upper right corner, I can toggle incognito mode. If I exit Firefox while in incognito mode, the next time I start it up, it will be in incognito mode. If I exit Firefox while in normal mode, the next time I start it up, it will be in normal mode.
This is a very poorly documented feature, and I had to play around with Firefox for a long time to figure it out. Hopefully this will help you and others to control which mode Firefox opens with on your phone.
Thank you Peter404 . . . helpful I'm sure to folks now and in the future. ":-Dx
