Huge battery drain on Pixel 8 Pro (Android 14)
Noticed my phone having terrible battery life, from battery usage you can see that Firefox is highly likely one of the main culprits. I have observed the same over a few days on the last two Firefox builds. It seems that it's not respecting the "Restricted" battery usage in Android (or Android is not restricting it, I have no idea), but you can see today's battery usage linked here: https://photos.app.goo.gl/pMByjqq6Q5GigcQu8

Hi
Is this due to you using more than other apps?
Are you viewing video or music content?

No... None at all. No tethering, stable wifi.
Are you signed into Firefox Sync on that device?
I have the exact same problem on my new Google Pixel 8. I open it for less than 1 min and it shows in the battery usage reports that it drains the most of all my other apps and services (and it keeps draining over time). This happens even when I have the phone locked and have firefox with background restriction.
I was able to circumvent the problem by removing it as my default browser. I did this a few days ago and never had it drain battery the same way again, so it seems this was the culprit... It however does not fix the problem entirely if one wants to use it as the default browser.

Thanks for this. I have just tried what you did yesterday and it seems to have fixed my crazy battery drain. My SOT was almost double from all my previous days (6 hours with 14% remaining, versus 3-4 hours before). I am going to test it for a week again and observe it.
I hope Mozilla can fix this, I really don't want to use Chrome but I'm being pushed to it right now.
